My last optometry school interview will be this Friday in Boston, Massachusettes @ NEWENCO. I've booked my flight with Orbitz and have used Pricleine for the first time ever to book a 4-star hotel room for a fraction of the suggested retail price. The result is that I'm staying at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel - here's a picture of the room:

Currently I am trying to find a nice seafood restaurant to scarf at upon arrival. Oyster shots and all. They have a Morton's and a Fleming's, restaurants that I've only come to appreciate within the six months. Even so, I've never eaten alone at a fancy-schmancy place before but it is in my opinion that times like these must build character. I read somewhere that when you call a restaurant ahead and make a reservation for one, a good restaurant make special accommodations for you. I guess they feel bad that you're a loner or something. I will ask for a seat with a view.

I've heard different opinions about Boston. One was that people there are slightly ignorant (<----quoted from a New York native). Again, I wouldn't describe LA as an enlightened place either... The other view was that it was a good college town to be in. Lotta pubs. That implies lots of beer. Historically it's one of the oldest cities in the country. I really just want to spend some time there alone to walk around a bit and to conjure enough imagination to really picture myself living there. I want to hallucinate about colonialists dumping tea into the harbor while wearing Native garb. I understand that this will be hard when the weather is confined to the lower thirties.

Knowing me, I'll probably bundle myself up in the hotel room the whole night and order room service. Who knows? It's just one night anyway. Then its back to LA to hit up Red with Carrie and party it up to Someone Acosta!!!!!

So it's been three weeks since my last day of school. Since then I've been lazing around, going on interviews, taking small trips, shopping and partying. I was in Miami and New York for a couple of days each. Miami has the sweetest whether right about this time of year. The humidity makes the air a bit muggy, but I'm sure its great for the skin. The optometry school at NOVA is pretty nice too. The school is sort of integrated with the rest of the the health professional schools like they're osteopathic, dental and PT programs. Plus its undergraduate library is touted as one of the world's top-ten most beautiful facilities. NSU Libary

The thing is, Ft. Lauderdale doesn't hold a candle against Manhattan. My time in NYC was characterized by great foods, amazing sites and an amazing subway system. Manhattan reminds me of an American version of Paris. You have the art and culture, breathtaking architecture and unique hospitality. I hit up Chinatown, SoHo, Times Square, Little India, Koreatown, and Broadway. I think if you ever wanted to just disappear, New York would be a great place. As for the weather, it is intolerably cold in the spring.
